From designing, creating and making award winning knitwear to a range of creative and artistic classes– here at  Liadain De Buitlear we pride ourselves on our hands-on approach to learning and inspired making.

We offer textile courses in felt making, one-on-one lessons in hand and machine knitting for people of all ages, as well as art classes specifically designed for children. We also design, make and sell exceptional knitwear.

Our friendly, practical and informative attitude allows us to help others explore their imaginative side, giving them the opportunity to get creative in a relaxed environment.

Liadain is a designer with a bachelor of arts in fashion design 2001 and a postgraduate diploma in knit technology 2002.

She set up her own knitwear company Liadain De Buitlear knitwear in 2003.

Liadain has been teaching primary school children arts and crafts with the Design and Crafts council of Ireland,and Kildare County Council since 2008 and runs childrens arts and crafts classes as Kildare Arts & Crafts.She teaches courses in machine knitting and feltmaking for groups of all ages.She is a menber of the education panel on the learncraftdesign website by DCCOI and a menber of the panel of Community Art tutors for KWETB.

She has Worked on projects with community groups of all ages over the last few years.

Liadain completed Community arts practice module and Community Arts in Context ,in 2011. and Train the Trainer course in 2012 and received distinctions in both.

Craftsperson Statement

My Aim is to explore a range of textile based craft processes with community groups and children of all ages,through various projects, allowing them a better understanding of a particular textile craft,and to encourage and nurture the process and to produce work which the group can be proud of.
